Call NowGet a Quote →Montauk is the East Coast's sportfishing capital, its Lake Montauk marinas packed with charter and pleasure fleets working Gardiners Bay and the open Atlantic. Final Dive Co. brings professional dive crews to Star Island, the Montauk Marine Basin, and Uihlein's for hull inspection, running-gear checks, and underwater recovery — keeping vessels running through the season.
Our Montauk service area covers Lake Montauk, Gardiners Bay, Napeague Bay, Three Mile Harbor, and Atlantic Ocean — including Star Island Yacht Club and Marina, Montauk Marine Basin, Uihlein's Marina & Boat Rental, and Gone Fishing Marina, and the waters off Montauk Surf & Sportsman's Yacht Club and Devon Yacht Club. Don't see your marina or dock? We travel the whole shoreline — call us and we'll come to you.
Avoided an expensive haul-out thanks to Final Dive Co. They inspected my 45ft yacht's hull, swim platform, and anchor system in one visit. Clean report and great advice. These guys go where others won't.
We have a private dock and finally found a team we had an excellent experience working with. They provided specialized underwater labor.
After last winter's ice damage I called Final Dive Co for a seawall and piling inspection. Same-day response, clear plan, saved me from bigger problems. A++++.
Every body of water on Long Island dives differently. Here is what our crews plan for when we work Lake Montauk, Montauk Harbor, Block Island Sound and the Atlantic.
Sand and gravel with rock and boulder in the exposed areas east of the harbor. Lake Montauk itself has a softer basin bottom. This is the most geologically varied bottom in our service area.
Montauk sits where Block Island Sound, Gardiners Bay and the Atlantic meet, and the current runs hard. The rips off Montauk Point are a serious water environment. Harbor work is manageable; anything outside is planned carefully.
The best available, and the most variable. Clean ocean water off Montauk can give fifteen feet or more. A blow shuts it down completely. Harbor visibility is more consistent but lower.
Heavy on hard growth. Full-strength ocean salinity supports aggressive barnacle and hard-growth accumulation on running gear, particularly on working vessels that stay in year-round.
Montauk is a working fishing port as well as a recreational harbor. Working vessels, heavy dock infrastructure and year-round exposure make this the most demanding structural environment in our service area.
Yes. Hull inspection, running gear service, net and line clearance from propellers and shafts, and underwater structural work on dock and bulkhead infrastructure. Working vessels here run hard and year-round, and the underwater wear reflects that.
Yes, and it is one of our more common Montauk calls. We clear line, net and gear wraps from propellers, shafts and rudders in the water, and we inspect for seal and bearing damage while we are down, because a wrap that came off easily can still have done damage.
Harbor and protected water work is routine. Anything in the exposed water east and south of Montauk is condition-dependent and planned carefully. The rips off the Point are a serious environment and we do not treat them casually.
